Other types of insurance

As well as life, car and home insurance, there are many other types of insurance designed to protect your and your family against risk. These include:

Funeral insurance
The death of a family member is one of the most difficult things you will ever have to face. When someone you love dies it can be very hard to cope – not just emotionally, but financially too.  When you are grieving for a loved one, the last thing you want to worry about is how you are going to pay for the funeral.

Funeral insurance gives you peace-of-mind knowing you can bury your loved ones with dignity and respect. Most funeral plans allow you to cover your immediate family, and give you the option to add other family members like your parents and parents-in-law, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles.

Accident and Health insurance
Have you ever considered what would happen if you weren’t able to work because of a long-term illness, or an injury that leaves you disabled?  Without a regular salary, you and your family could find it impossible to pay your rent, make your bond or car repayments, or even cover your household expenses and food bills.

Taking out Accident and Health insurance will protect you financially, usually with a lump-sum payout.  This will ensure that if you are unable to work, your family will be provided for – even if you cannot work again.

Loan protection
Most banks offer Loan Protection insurance that will pay off your loans in the event of your death, disability, dread disease and retrenchment. Loan protection insurance is generally available for vehicle and asset finance, home loans, credit cards and personal loans.

Make sure you’re covered!

Talk to your bank about the different insurance options they offer.  Find out upfront what type of cover and benefits you can expect and how much your monthly premium will be.

Remember:  You might think that insurance is expensive, but being without it could lead to financial ruin. The cost of having insurance is nothing compared to the cost of living without it!
